Julie Laporte is a contemporary dancer, born in 1977, currently based in Paris. She was trained in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance in EPSEDANSE (Montpellier) and in P.A.R.T.S (Brussels) where she discovered release techniques, and improvisation. In 2009, she has the opportunity to participate in one chapter of Ex.e.r.ce (CCN, Montpellier), focused on Merce Cunningham work. She studied there with Mathilde Monnier, Foofwa d' Immobilité, Lisa Nelson and the video maker Charles Atlas. Since 2002, she has performed for different French choreographers such as Emmanuelle Vo-dhin, Hélène Cathala, Patrice Barthez, Marc Baylet, Didier Théron, Claire Engel, François Rascalou, Michèle Murray and Johann Maheut. She also danced in Germany, for Anna Konjetski, in Belgium, for Manuela Rastaldi and in Switzerland for Lucie Tuma. Currently, she's been collaborating to specific projects involving perceptive experiences in dialogue with the urban enviromnent, especially with Myriam Lefkowitz's Walk, Hands, Eyes ( a city) project which has been presented at the Venice Biennale in 2013, in the Center of Contemporary Art in Vilnius in 2013, in the show « Le Mouvement » in Biel in 2014, in les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers in 2014 and 2015. She also developps a taste for energetic practices such as shiatsu (Iokai Shiatsu Paris), yoga and hypnosis tools (transmitted by Catherine Contour). Julie is now pursuing her research through a teaching practice for kids and different workshops, espacially with Xavier Leroy around « Retrospectice », in the context of the University of Paris 8/ Performing Arts.
