On the occasion of the publication of the book ZARBA LONSA _O_O__O MESONYA/, Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers are proposing a meeting around the book in the presence of Katinka Bock.

For the book launch the artist will invite Andrea Buckley who will perform around an installation by Katinka Bock within Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers.

The book brings together three stages of this vast project, the first of which, Zarba Lonsa was initiated in 2015 at Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers as part of its creative residency and the exhibition that followed. Particularly interested in the dynamics of the Quatre-Chemins district where Les Laboratoires are located, the visual artist went to meet shop-keepers to initiate relationships based on the gift of one of her works in exchange for an object from each shop.

This gesture was the starting point of a creative process that has unfolded in several forms-sculptures, installation, films and photos, editions. Renewing the process of this exchange-based relationship in a specific urban context for a new production of works and photographs, a second edition of the project was started with the title _O_O__O, in June 2017, at the Mercer Union in Toronto. A final edition at Siobhan Davies Dance in London, entitled Mesonya, closed this series in the autumn of 2017. ZARBA LONSA _O_O__O MESONYA/, at the same time a monograph of this project and an artist's book, is a return to these three editions.

Andrea Buckley is a certified Rolfer, dance performer, maker and teacher whose work is informed by 24 years of practice. Through various engagements and initiatives  within the UK and abroad she has worked with artists such as Rosie Lee, Sue MacLenan, Kirstie Simson, Nancy Stark Smith, Lisa Nelson, Gill Clarke and Deborah Hay amongst others. Based in the Northwest of England her research draws upon an extensive range of improvisation and contact skills and investigative movement practices where process and reflections are grounded in observation, perception, culture and imagination. The emphasis is on the thinking moving body.

Her desire to cultivate work is to explore the scope for movement as a means to communicate generous and honest work in performance.
