Lenio Kaklea trained at the Greek National School of Dance in Athens (SSCD), the Centre national de danse contemporaine (FAC) in Angers and graduated from the MA programme in experimentation in the arts and politics (SPEAP) directed by Bruno Latour at Sciences Po, Paris.
She has worked as an interpreter/performer with Alexandra Bachzetsis, Gerard & Kelly, Claudia Triozzi, François Chaignaud & Cecilia Bengolea, Emmanuelle Huynh, Boris Charmatz, Moser & Schwinger, Fanny de Chaillé, Laure Bonicel and Hela Fattoumi & Eric Lamoureux.
Since 2009, she has created choreographic works such as Matter of Act (2009), Fluctuat nec Mergitur (2010), Arranged by Date (2012), Deux • L (2013) in collaboration with Lucinda Childs, Margin Release f/f (2015) and Arranged by Date, A Guided Tour (2016).
Her work has been shown at the Centre Pompidou, ImpulsTanz, the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Le Quartz-Scène National de Brest, Latitudes Contemporaines and La Ménagerie de Verre.
In 2016 she curated Iris, Alexandra, Mariela, Katerina et moi, a programme exploring the production of choreographic work by women in Athens, presented at the DansFabrik festival, Quartz-Scène Nationale de Brest.
In 2017, in the capacity of choreographer, she began collaborating with Joris Lacoste and L’Encyclopédie de la Parole on the piece Suite N° 3, and has been invited to take part in the Biennale Phenomenon 2, organised by Iordanis Kerenidis and Piergiorgio Pepe on the Aegean Island of Anafi.
