Musée Précaire Albinet - Quartier du Landy, Aubervilliers 2004 (dir. Yvane Chapuis)
The work Musée Précaire Albinet was created by Thomas Hirschhorn, at the invitation of les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers and installed from 19 April to 14 June 2004 at the foot of the Cité Albinet in Aubervilliers. Thomas Hirschhorn presented original works, from the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, by eight artists who saw utopia in the ability to change the world through art: Duchamp, Malevitch, Mondrian, Dalí, Beuys, Le Corbusier, Warhol, Léger. Commented by Yvane Chapuis, codirector of les Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers and curator of the project, this book recounts all the steps in creating such an improbable work. Exemplary, tenacious, generous, the artists had to be all that in order to bring about the Musée Précaire Albinet and these traits are recounted in the documents of this collective work: correspondence between the projects’ partners, summaries of various work meetings and meetings with residents, everything that came out of the Musée Précaire’s daily functioning and published articles.
