Atlas Group is a structure founded in 1999 by Walid Raad in Beyrouth, whose intention is to document the contemporary history of Lebanon and more particularly some aspects of the wars in Lebanon between 1975 and 1991. In this perspective, the Atlas Group collects and produces all kinds of documents (photographs, notebooks, films, etc.) that constitute the Atlas Group Archive. Walid Raad was invited by the Laboratoires in prolongation of the programation Hypnose, and echoing his simultaneous exhibit at the Galerie de Noisy-le-Sec; at the Laboratoires he gave a conference, entitled The Loudest Muttering is Over: Documents from the Atlas Group Archive: a public multimedia presentation, elaborated from the foundation’s archived material, and through which Walid Raad exhibited the missions and documents of the Atlas Group.
