Through the Letterbox
by Sivlia Maglioni and Graeme Thomson
Following the reading group of Thursday April 7th, where we will explore the plateau One or several wolves?, Silvia Maglioni and Graeme Thomson propose to continue with an immersion in the courses of Gilles Deleuze at Vincennes (1976-1976), through the screening of a new edit of Through the Letterbox, taking up a series of motifs around the theme of Psychotropification.
For this ongoing epistolary project, begun in 2006 when the the video archives shot by Marielle Burkhalter were broadcast on Italian television, an event which marked the starting point for their film Facs of Life, Silvia Maglioni and Graeme Thomson refilm (and often translate et subtitle) long sequences of Deleuze's courses reframing them in 16/9 letterbox format, as though envisioning a cinematic “chance” for thought and for these fragile images of a pedagogy always in danger of being lost.
