Daniel Foucard wrote this novel during a 10-month writing residence at Les Laboratoires: “There is no sex addiction. There’s even less and less sex. Online porn is helping libido win out over actual practice. That is at least how Dr Petrov, a specialist in treating addictions, explains it to his patient Paul. The doctor’s appointment becomes confrontational because Paul, a pseudo-porn addict, has come to entrap the controversial doctor. Petrov’s intimidating list of paraphilias, or forms of sexual deviance, against Paul’s zealous aggression. There competition isn’t really on until a mysterious third person enters the fight.”
